It is essential the any Batas Cricket bat is fully knocked in before match use. Using a good quality mallet, pay particular attention to the edges and the toe of the bat. The edges should be hit with glancing blows, about 45 degrees to round them off. Do not hit them directly as this will damage the bat and possibly cause cracks. It will take several sessions of knocking in, 3-4 hours in total. Gradually increase the force used each session.
Once knocked in, the bat should be used in an easy net session or with 'throw downs' using a good quality old ball. If on inspection, seam marks are visible, additional knocking in is required. If not, continue with a few more net sessions before full match use.
